Perhaps this should be listed under Joys of the Month - :) - as I can hardly believe that span of time has gone since last posting - much has happened. To focus on the Joys as Darina so beautifully (and consistently) reminds each of us -
  • a visit to family in Iowa (more than you'll ever want to know) - 3200 miles in 5 days of driving, with 5 days of visiting squeezed in for good measure. Hook up with another friend from 30 years ago.
  • plenty of bike riding - reaching a goal of riding to work and back every day of the week! But few entries into the cycling pod. Join in and share the fun! We did manage to find 3 new zaadsters jumping in - welcome Mikey, Peacey, and Kate  Join in to share some fun! And welcome these new zFriends!
  • A realization that "others" in our life can affect our outlook - but only as much as we allow.
  • a great gift of poetry cards from fellow Zaadster and friend Phil. The Gratitude card was a big hit around the breakfast table Labor Day weekend. And my "Joy of the Week" .... You gotta check these out! They are inspiring little gizmos! And the samples are free!
Discovery of the week?!?! Slow down - life moves too fast as it is - breathe deeply
AND
I LOVE COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!

Peace and love to all -
Bobbo

Like Cycling?

Posted on Sep 16th, 2006 by Bobbo : Minstrel of Environment Bobbo

zFriends - Most of you will recognize I'm not a power user on the network. I like to check in pretty regular but don't post every time. One of 2 things happen - my fingers can't keep up with my mind OR my thoughts get all wrapped up and it takes me a while to "unwrap" them - LOL. In addition - there are s-o-o-o-o many links to follow - a LOT of great people!

In an attempt to reach out - I posted this entry on my cycling pod and thought I'd blog it too. I want to find out how many views it might generate. And I want to be able to tag it - see if there are others blogging about cycling. Selfishly - I'm looking for tips on cycling gear. If you're looking here - then you are part of this learning curve. Comments always welcome.

It's beginning to cool a bit in the NW. I love the fall for riding - but, dang, its c-o-l-d when I first climb on. And the wind can come out of nowhere.

If you're a member on this little pod or merely visiting - and you have your notifications set to see this note :) - lets talk about gear. Specifically - how do you stay warm until the ride warms you up! Thus far, I am still in shorts but have added a long sleeve top. I purchased at Eddie Bauer and its a wool blend that wicks the moisture. Its working so far - but I can feel a jacket may be in my future purchases. Also some type of pants or leggings. What do you use or recommend?

I finally made the plunge to clip in cycling shoes and NEW socks. What a difference! Never realized how much power is lost without using the EVERY leg muscle!

Come say "Hi" and Keep riding!
Bobbo
